Why so Less Malls in Chennai ?

Just wondering whey there are so less malls in Chennai ? Just 3 operational according to various sources and 12 upcoming. This is a pathetic number compared to even Pune and Bangalore.

i appericaite the amount of research you did to dig out every possible detail..well..i am pretty sure soon it will be very big booming market...real eastate in chennai is getting high...i belive that will be reflected in other aspects of life tooo...
