Domino’s biggest competitor, Yum! Brands (Pizza Hut) has created an autonomous subsidiary Pizza Hut Delivery, PHD focused on segregated operations for home delivery and dine-in sales. Yum has committed its own capital (not franchisee capital) behind its expansion plan – and is aiming for 300 PHD stores.
Other players including Papa John’s, US Pizza, KFC and McDonalds have also announced aggressive expansion plans for next 2-4 years. Some of
this aggression is backed by rising private equity interest in the QSR space with over US$200mn being invested over the 12 months to October 2011
