Author Topic: ICICI billed me transaction after NINE months on card discontinued in Sept 2014  (Read 8190 times)

I have received credit card statement from ICICI on a credit card that was discontinued nine months ago, said to be old part payment of transaction that was done on 14th May 2014, that time it was billed to me partially by an error ?? and remaining amount is being billed to me we new transaction date of 15th May 2015. Is there a time limit how many days bank can take to bill amended or error correction of old transaction.  I have written to ICICI to give me transaction details, they are silent, ICICI Headcreditcard do not respond, ombudsmen can be approached only after 60 days ? 
if I do not pay before due date it will start interest and penalty complications,
Any suggestions 1) can back bill after nine months ?,
2) can I pay now under protest and file complaint to ombudsmen and if result is in my favour can I claim from bank penalty and interest at same rate they charge us if we d not pay bill on due date

1. See if it is a Genuine error. I f so Pay it and forget it.

2. If the error is what is claimed is not Genuine, Make Payment in protest. You can claim back if you have all documentary evidence for the same.

3. You can appeal to the ICICI Ombudsman after 30 days having lodged your first Grievance.

4. If ICICI Ombudsman fails to respond, then Appeal with RBI Ombudsman

Make sure you have all the Statements / Documents in Original with you. If RBI Ombudsman also fails, drag ICICI Bank to Consumer Court.
