Title: Help required Upgrading my CIBIL record
Post by: soumyapanigrahi on September 29, 2010, 04:44:45 PM
I had defaulted on one of my personal loans with HSBC.
Because of this they had reported my loan account as Written Off in cibil.
When I came to know about this I paid the full amount towards the closure
of the account as demanded by bank without going for settlement.
However even after this bank has updated my Cibil status to "POST WRITE
OFF SETTLED".
However they have also updated the amount overdue and current balance
against my account as 0.
Also they have updated the close date of account as well.

As I have paid the amount in full I would like the bank to change the
status to closed. But the bank is refusing to do so.
Please suggest a way forward as I am in huge mental stress since last
month.
I have all the relevant documents i.e. Copy of foreclosure, NOC, Payment
Trackrecord, mail from HSBC nodal office which suggests that I have paid in
full.

Also I have one more question will moving the status from WriteOff to Settled help improve my score?

If you have paid everything in full [Amount + Actual Interest without Settlement], then this is a good case against HSBC to be filed with RBI. Please relax, your record has to be rectified by HSBC at CIBIL.

Draft a letter with relevant records [Photocopies] and send it to the Banking Ombudsman of RBI by Speedpost and ask for speedy disposal of the matter. Choose the Ombudsman depending on your state of Residence.

Separately, file a letter with HSBC Ombudsman acking to change your CIBIL records within 30 days and a copy of the letter that shall be sent to CIBIL be also copied to you. Failing which, state you will file a complaint against HSBC in the consumer court. In this case, go ahead and seek compensation from HSBC for all the mess.
