Title: Deutsche bank credit card settlement
Post by: suresh.t on September 25, 2010, 06:47:00 PM
Hi cardbhai,
I am having a classic credit card with Deutsche Bank. 2 years back I left country for my project purpose. Before leaving the country i made payment to my card. As i am based on paper statement before leaving the country i made full payment with assumption on outstanding before i receive my statement. To my bad luck my assumption was wrong and still some outstanding left on my card. I need to pay very less amount less than 1000 but for these 2 years they have applied all charges and made my outstanding as 14000. Last month I returned to INDIA and when i called bank to update my address I am shocked to hear that I had an outstanding of rs 14000. I called them twice and explained my situation that I am out of country and also ready to show the proof of my visa's and requested them to revert all charges they have applied on my card.

I already told them that I am ready to pay the actual amount along with some penalty but not 14000.

I am not in a position to pay that much huge amount .

I am having 2 other credit cards and a personal loan I never became default or I never had a cheque bounce.

I want to resolve the issue now so I called them on my own but they are not ready to help me in this matter.

I am planning to avail a Home loan from PSU bank but because of this issue I am not able to go ahead.

Kindly suggest me what i need to do? but I can't pay 14000 which I have not used at all.

please respond.

Regards,
Suresh.

Suresh:

I can understand your problem, but there are no provisions under the Banking Law to help you or bail you out. The only thing is negotiate. But I believe the banking folks don't want to give you a deal since you told that you went abroad and they know that you have some savings and Rs 14,000 is not a big deal for you.

Anyway, I'd suggest you PAY and Get CLEAN Credit Report and move ahead.
