Credit card settlement and improving credit history
« on: May 23, 2011, 11:04:55 AM »
Hi,
I have an outstanding credit in Barclays card nearing to 25000, also I had one personal loan and credit card from Citibank which had some issues from bank side but both of them are now settled ( I’ve not seen the CIBIL report yet and I’m not sure about my credit score)
Considering Barclays card, I’m paying around 2000 monthly as against Rs. 1350 as minimum due amount regularly now I wish to pay in full all the outstanding amount of card to avoid further killing interest rates. Kindly advise me the proper procedure to settle the same and also advise what would be my status in CIBIL when I settled my previous outstanding dues against Citibank, if they are in "settled" status how can I assure that the status is changed by bank whom should I discuss this with?.
Also, what should be my steps to improve my score so that I can avail loans in nearby future or credit card.

If you have been paying Rs 2000 Monthly then your Status will not be settled for sure. Settled only comes on "Full & Final Settlement Offer" which the Bank makes once the customer is unable to pay whatever is due.

If Settled is being reflected in CIBIL due to your Personal Loan, then I can't comment unless I know the entire case history.

Get your credit report and see what's in it.
