We are raising our December Sensex target from 21,000 to 22,000 premised on our expectation that the pace of negative newsflow over India and excessive investor pessimism may be receding. While we are not expecting any imminent turn in private sector investment momentum and remain cautious over near term monetary policy action, we believe (1) expectations of a troughing macro economy (2) likely withdrawal of extraordinary liquidity tightening measures by the RBI following currency stabilization (3) a synchronized global growth recovery and (4) a Fed that is expected to stay 'looser for longer'- should offset near term concerns.
